2. Overview

This website is a largely static information site. It embeds no third-party services — no external fonts, maps, videos, social-media elements, advertising or analytics networks — and it sets no cookies. There is no profiling and no cross-device recognition.

Two functions transmit data to a server under our own control (cockpit.sh-server.me): the enquiry form (section 5) and an anonymous reach count on the calculator page (section 6). Both are described in detail below. No data is passed to third parties in the process.

3. Hosting and server log files

The website runs on our own server (self-hosting). When the site is accessed, access data is automatically processed in server log files for technical reasons: shortened/anonymised IP address, date and time of access, the requested resource, the volume of data transferred, referrer, and browser/operating-system identifier.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website). This data is stored only briefly and then deleted.

4. Contact by e-mail

If you contact us by e-mail (e.g. at info@sh-server.me or via the “Request a consultation” button), we process your details solely to handle your request and any follow-up questions.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (answering your enquiry). Your data is deleted once it is no longer required for the purpose and no statutory retention periods apply.

5. Forms on this website

This website contains two technically very different kinds of form. We distinguish them explicitly here, because with one of them no data reaches us at all.

5.1 Contact and calculator form on the home page

The fields in the contact section of the home page and in the cost check do not send anything to a server. Clicking the button merely opens your own e-mail programme with a prepared message. Whether and what you send is entirely your decision; the message leaves your device via your own e-mail provider. Until you send it we process none of these details, and no record is created on our side.

The same applies to the cost calculator itself: the calculation runs entirely in your browser. The figures you enter are not transmitted to us.

5.2 Enquiry form on “Request access”

The form on the Request access page works differently. There, the details you enter really are transmitted to us: your name, e-mail address, company (optional), your notes on what you need and your message. For technical reasons your IP address and the time of transmission are also processed.

Transmission is encrypted and goes to cockpit.sh-server.me, a server we operate ourselves in Germany. No external service provider is involved. We use the details solely to handle your enquiry and any follow-up questions.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering your enquiry). Providing the data is voluntary; without it, however, we cannot answer your enquiry. We delete the data once it is no longer required for the purpose and no statutory retention periods apply.

6. Anonymous reach count

When the home page or the My SHServer page is opened — as well as their German counterparts / and /mein.html — a single counting request is sent to our own server cockpit.sh-server.me. This does not happen on any other page of this website. It transmits only the page accessed and the domain of the referring website (referrer, e.g. “google.com”), plus your IP address for technical reasons. We do not store the IP address for this purpose, set no cookies, assign no identifier and do not combine the data with other records. Individual persons cannot be recognised from it.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a rough assessment of our site's reach). You may object under Art. 21 GDPR; an e-mail to info@sh-server.me is sufficient. You can also prevent the request effectively by disabling JavaScript for this page.

7. Cookies and storage on your device

This website uses no cookies and no third-party tracking or analytics services. No data is transmitted to advertising or analytics networks and no usage profiles are created. The count described in section 6 works without a cookie and without any recognition identifier.

For completeness — § 25 TDDDG covers any storage on your device, not only cookies: on the home page the site places a single entry in your browser's session storage (luxSeen). It merely records that the opening animation has already played during this session, so that it does not run again on the next page view. The entry contains no personal data and no identifier by which you could be recognised, and your browser deletes it automatically as soon as you close the tab. It is not evaluated in any way.

Beyond that, nothing is stored on your device — no cookie, no persistent storage entry, no identifier. We have measured this: loading every page of this website established not a single connection to a third-party server.

8. Disclosure to third parties / third countries

Your data is not passed on to third parties unless this is necessary to perform a contract or you have consented.

The website and the server referred to in sections 5 and 6 are operated in Germany. The controller, EEG LLC, is based in the United States. When handling your enquiry — in particular by e-mail — processing by persons in the USA may therefore take place. A level of data protection equivalent to the GDPR is not guaranteed by law there in the same way; in particular, access by US authorities is possible.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

To exercise these rights, an e-mail to info@sh-server.me is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

We update this privacy policy whenever changes to the website or to legal requirements make it necessary.
